Before I start the Thursday Rundown let me thank all my readers who helped me solve my identity crisis. Last night I wrote about the fake Brent Reser Facebook profile that had infiltrated the internet. Just a few hours after I published my blog post, thanks to you, Facebook had deleted it. With the momentum from that small victory, let’s get to the rundown.
Love These Shirts – This week I picked up our brand new #CCUSocialMedia t-shirts. As you can see, we made a slight modification to the Twitter bird. The Chauncey-ized logo fills up the front and then on the back we have our hashtag, brand logo, and handle included. We will give these shirts out as prizes to our most passionate social media followers. Don’t you wish you had one?
Special “Social Circle” Segment – This week our latest “Coastal Now” show came out and it includes one of my more favorite “Social Circle” segments. In this latest episode, I feature my hard-working intern. I decided to bring Jada Bynum on set and introduce her to our audience because of the key role she plays in the success of #CCUSocialMedia. Jada just finished up her junior year here at CCU. She is part of the prestigious Wall Fellows group here at the university and is currently in Europe on a Coastal-sponsored trip. A Mere Formality for Carty – As was expected, the outgoing principal at Mead High School rejected the appeal of Sean Carty to have his unjust termination overturned. Even though the soon-to-be ex head man at the high school decided not to overturn the decision he made during his short stint at Mead, the next two rounds of the appeals process show the most promise for Carty. In this next step he will be at the mercy of the superintendent. During this round, the honor and integrity of Sean Carty will be clearly matched up against the shame, greed, and cluelessness of a small group of parents who mounted a smear campaign. Although his strong reputation precedes him, any last letters of support to Dr. Rockefeller will only help Coach Carty’s cause. You can e-mail the superintendent by clicking here.
Summer Hours – Probably the most common question I receive about my job is this: Do you get summers off? (Chuckling inside just a little bit)…No, I don’t. However, at Coastal Carolina University we do enjoy a nice little luxury starting tomorrow. Up until around mid-August, every Friday we get to leave work at 1 p.m. The thinking behind this is to offer the staff a little summer respite while also giving us a head start on the heavy weekend traffic. As vacationers swarm to the beach, Friday afternoon traffic can be absolutely horrendous. Leaving a few hours early enables us the chance to spend Friday evening doing something fun as opposed to sitting behind one million cars.
Weekend Plans – To mark a special occasion, Sidney and I will be heading to Savannah, Georgia, this weekend. We will leave on Saturday and return Sunday. Savannah is one of the South’s most historic and charming cities so I am looking very forward to the trip. With the weather forecast glowing and the anticipation of exploring a new place making me grin, I think we are in store for a great time. Come Sunday evening I will get back to you all on our adventure.

Have a terrific weekend! Summer 2015 is officially here (at least in the South) and I have a feeling that it might be the best one ever. Time now to really kick it off. Don’t Blink.
